Ace Department is the secret society of entrepreneuses. We’re inspired by smart, strong women with the guts to make it in business. Think of Ace as a community space — a place to gather around shared goals with fellow Aces, following different paths to similar goals. We’re all reaching for success, we’re all trying to carve out a daring life, and we all have things to teach and to learn.

Ace Department is the most exclusively inclusive community on the web. We’re selective about our Aces, so that we have a guaranteed-helpful community of people who can support each other through good days and bad.
Like walking into an office filled with your best friends, the Ace forums, chats, and articles are all designed to grow relationships so we can help each other succeed. The Ace Department is a place for both new ideas and well-worn oldies. It’s a safe space to figure this all out together.
Okay, but who are you guys?
We’re women who own and operate small businesses and have designs on bigger ones. We also work from our homes, which means we keenly understand the isolation and, let’s admit it, occasional drudgery that comes with the privilege and pleasure of doing your own thing.
We looked for a long time for a space that empowers women to connect, grow, and help each other reach new heights of success, all while running their daily shows. We couldn’t find one, so we built the Ace Department.

Formerly on the fast-track to a miserable life in the c-level, I left my thirteen-hour days behind to build something of my own. My husband (and everyone else I know) likes me a lot better now. Most importantly, I like myself now. I have a useless dual degree in English and History. I have a background in marketing, management, event direction, and writing. And I have a hankering for a cookie.
I own Crude, a small-batch cosmetics company. I’m also the author of a soon-to-be-released guide for sensible brides. I blog (sometimes) at jessicaalfieri.com and tweet (too often) at @alfieri. And my lust items are catalogued at averyfinething.com.
You can find me in the Ace Department every day, working my ass off and learning as I go. Ace @jessica or direct at jess@acedept.com

I am a graphic designer by training and experience, but I consider myself mainly an entrepreneur. I love creating in all its forms, including art, design, writing, and craft. I was born and raised in the midwest, lived in an adorable cottage in Oregon, and now I reside in a tiny apartment in Brooklyn with my husband and our Boston Terrier/Chihuahua, Crusher.
I am the owner and administrator of the art and craft community website, Swap-bot.com, which currently has over 40,000 members. Swap-bot is a web tool used to coordinate group art, craft, and pen pal swaps. I have been updating my personal website for over eight years. You can also find me on Twitter and CraftCritique.com.
I have my master’s degree in Arts Management from the University of Oregon. My research project covered Internet marketing strategies for indie crafts.
I really like the internet. I am very interested in art, crafts, design, museums, exercising, laughing, and thinking about the space-time continuum. I like paper, stickers, glitter pens, chocolate, coffee, comic books, video games and puppies. I love my family. I believe in the importance of a federal-level Department of Peace, and I truly believe that diversity equals strength and prosperity.
